The Mescherbergloop is a hill-running classic in southern Limburg, organised by the Maasrunners with start and finish at S.V.M.E. in Eijsden. The course winds through the area around Mesch and the Savelsbos woods: undulating ground, meadows and the notorious stairs path make it more than a fast run on asphalt. There are four distances — a 6.1-kilometre performance run, a short hill run of 10, the Mescherbergloop of 16.1 and a half marathon with genuine climbing — plus a Kidsrun. There is no time limit: you will finish regardless. Every kilometre is marked and timing is by shoe chip. Do bear in mind that parking near the start is limited.
