The Sylvestercross is a two-day cross-country event in the Lange Duinen of Soest, with the start and finish in dune sand and a course over unpaved forest tracks. The evening of 30 December belongs to the Sylvester by Night: a family run and an evening run of one, two or three laps through a lit-up wood and dune area. New Year's Eve brings the competition crosses under the auspices of the Dutch athletics federation, for youth, juniors, seniors and masters, plus a short cross. Alongside them are a 550-metre G-cross, a relay for teams of four each running a 1900-metre lap, a business run, a schools cross for primary pupils and two performance races. The course is built from marked laps ranging from 550 to 2500 metres.
