About the race

The Strong Viking Obstacle Run at Wijchen is held by the Berendonck, just outside Nijmegen, and spreads across three days. You pick your distance — 4, 7, 13, 19 or the full 42 kilometres — and every route brings mud, water and obstacles with names of their own: the Flying Ragnar, where you swing from a trapeze two metres up, hit a bell and drop into the water, Storm the Castle, and for the daring the fourteen-metre Fjord Drop. The Walhalla Walls come with a lower variant beside the 2.5-metre wall, which is telling: hard is allowed, but nobody has to drop out. A shirt and a drink wait at the finish.
