The Steenbergtrail sets off from the Steenberg sports hall in Erpe-Mere and runs more than three quarters on unpaved ground: gravel roads, muddy stretches and single tracks through the countryside around the village. There are four distances with rising climb, from 9 kilometres with 74 metres to 29 with 213. They start in reverse order, the longest at nine and the shortest not until quarter past eleven. Watch the aid stations, because they differ sharply: two stops on the 29, one on the 22 and the 16, and none at all on the 9 kilometres — there only the finish awaits. Anyone running the short distance carries what they need themselves.
