Runforestrun Drents Friese Wold

About the race

RunForestRun Drents Friese Wold is a small-scale trail race from RCN de Roggeberg in Appelscha, with routes of 13, 22 and 43 kilometres. The course runs through the Drents-Friese Wold, the largest continuous woodland in the Netherlands, past the Kanadameer lake and across open heath. Along the way you cross the Aekingerzand, a drifting sand area that gives the route a completely different face from the forest around it, after which the course returns towards Appelscha over short, sharp rises. The organisers deliberately keep the field small, which makes for a calm and personal atmosphere. Part of the entry fee goes to a nature project in the area where the trail is run.
