The Herfst Bosloop is one of the seasonal runs Veenhuizen Actief organises through the year, with start and finish at the sports hall on the Kerklaan. There are three distances: 3, 5 and 10 kilometres, each with a course of its own through the forests and along the heathland around the village. The solo start falls at half past ten. The sports hall offers changing rooms and showers. The entry fee is deliberately kept low; anyone wanting a medal pays a few euros more. Veenhuizen is a UNESCO world heritage site as a former colony settlement, which makes the setting of this small-scale run more striking than its format suggests.
