Run van Gieten is a running and walking event on the Hondsrug ridge in Drenthe. The Brink in Gieten is the hub of the day, with youth races, adapted events such as the VB race and frame running, walking routes and competitive races over 5.3 kilometres, 10 kilometres and the half marathon. The routes use low-traffic roads and the slopes around the village, keeping the atmosphere local and easy to follow while offering a wide choice of distances. From short children’s races to the Open Northern Half Marathon Championship, this is above all a community race day with many volunteers, plenty of spectators and a down-to-earth North Drenthe race format.
