Pietenloop Bemmel

About the race

The Pietenloop Bemmel is a small-scale, recreational race for the whole family, based at the De Heister sports park. The morning begins on the athletics track with three youth distances — 400, 800 and 1200 metres — after which the 5 kilometres sets off half an hour later from the sports park, on a traffic-free route through the countryside around Bemmel. What makes the race recognisable is the relaxed family atmosphere: the Pieten lead the warm-up for the children and then simply run along. That set-up means beginners, children and recreational runners all find a suitable distance, without the event becoming large or unwieldy. Enjoyment counts for as much here as the time on the clock.
