The OER.cross is run on the Havelte-West training ground near Havelterberg, the wooded and hilly area that held an American base during the Cold War. Laps of 780, 1440 and 2650 metres are marked out across the terrain and combined into a distance for every category: from 780 metres for the youngest children through 3000 and 4870 metres to 7950 metres for the longest cross. Recreational runners choose between 5300 and 7950 metres, and there is a relay cross over four short laps. Sand, root-covered paths and short climbs alternate, and participants rank the course among the toughest cross-country races in the country. From half past ten in the morning the categories start one after another. AV De Sprinter organises the race.
