Middelseeloop

About the race

The Middelseeloop starts and finishes at IKC Middelsee on the Felling, in the new district on the south side of Leeuwarden. There are five events: a one-kilometre kids run, 2.5 kilometres, 5 kilometres, 10 kilometres and a 12.5-kilometre walk. The shorter routes stay inside Middelsee itself; only the ten kilometres carries on into neighbouring De Zuidlanden. That difference is the point of the event: the race exists to show a district under construction to the people who live there and to those who have never set foot in it. The course is flat and paved, and the set-up remains that of a neighbourhood sports day where runners and walkers mix.
