Martini Marathon (Baanmarathon)

About the race

The Martini Marathon is run on the athletics track in the Stadspark of Groningen, and that changes everything about the distance: 42,195 metres on a four-hundred-metre track comes to just over a hundred and five laps past the same point. There is no course to hold on to and no changing view, only pace and counting. Anyone finding that too bare runs the relay with three to five people, made up of four times ten thousand metres and an opening leg of 2,195. The field is limited to sixty runners and the time limit stands at five hours. The start is on a Friday evening, so the last hour is run in the dark.
