The Marathon van Vlaardingen is a local marathon celebration with start and finish on the grounds of sc Victoria. The fifth edition offers not only the marathon, but also a 1-kilometre Familyrun, a 1/8 marathon, a quarter marathon and a half marathon, so recreational runners and families can take part alongside marathon runners. The course is entirely on paved paths and is built around 4.9-kilometre laps, with an initial approach section for the half and full marathon. The organization clearly focuses on atmosphere along the way, with aid, cheer zones, photographers, timing and a trophy for every participant. That makes the day feel both tightly organized and distinctly Vlaardingen: sporty, enthusiastic and aimed at runners who enjoy starting in a warm local setting.
