LOOP Leeuwarden is Fryslân’s major running and walking event, right in the centre of Leeuwarden. The 2026 edition combines 5 km, 10 km and half marathon races for runners with 6, 12 and 18 km walks, plus free Kidsruns over 1 and 2.5 km. The running and walking distances start on Wilhelminaplein, the Zaailand, and finish at the foot of the Oldehove; the Kidsrun stays on the Oldehoofsterkerkhof. With that compact city-centre setup, its Frisian identity and a mix of recreational participants, competitive runners, children and company teams, LOOP Leeuwarden feels broad but still clearly local.
