La Châtelettaine sets off at three in the afternoon from the Place de l'Hôtel de Ville in Châtelet, in the middle of town. There are two distances, 7 and 14 kilometres; the short one is entirely flat by the organisers' own account. The race belongs to the Challenge Hainaut, the provincial series in which town and village races together form a standings — so taking part earns points towards the season. It is organised by the Union Athlétique Châtelet.
