The Koningsloop Emmeloord is an accessible evening race run by athletics club AV NOP, starting and finishing on the track at Banterweg. The course consists of clear 2.5 kilometre loops heading into the Emmelerbos woods: youngsters cover one or two loops, while adults choose two or four and so end up at 5 or 10 kilometres. Because everyone runs the same loop, the race is easy to follow and there is constant movement on the track. The run is also the first race counting towards the Dorpencompetitie of the Noordoostpolder, which brings plenty of regional competitive runners to Emmeloord alongside recreational participants. Registration is online and remains open until shortly before the start.
