The Kollumerkatloop is Rotaryclub Lauwersland's evening race through Kollum, starting and finishing on the Voorstraat by the church. The evening begins at six with the schoolchildren: groups 1 to 4 run a one-kilometre kids run, and from group 5 there are separate races for boys and girls. Prizes go not only to the fastest children but also to the three fastest schools, which is why the field is made up of classes rather than clubs. At half past seven the 6.4 and the 13.8 kilometres set off. Both head through the shopping street into the countryside; the long distance carries on to Burum. The proceeds go to a charity each year.
