The Kerstcross is a West Frisian cross-country race on Boxing Day, starting on the field beside the VVS'46 grounds and finishing on the club's main pitch. The course runs through the open countryside around Opmeer, past ditches, meadows and a windmill. Adults have 5 and 10 kilometres on the programme, each with a competitive and a recreational classification; the North Holland cross-country championship is also decided here. Younger runners go earlier over 800 metres, 2 and 3 kilometres, split by age, and there is an 800-metre Toploop for participants with a disability. Walkers set off at their own convenience over 5 or 10 kilometres, with a coffee stop in a heated bulb shed along the way.
