The Kassenloop is run through the greenhouse district of Steenbergen, starting and finishing on the Westlandse Langeweg. The morning opens with a 1-kilometre kids' run, after which the runners set off over 5, 10 or 15 kilometres; there is also a 5-kilometre walk. The course follows the straight roads between the greenhouses and the open Brabant farmland, where there is little shelter. Two Roparun teams stand behind the event, and that determines where the money goes: the proceeds are intended to make life more bearable for people with cancer. It is as much a fundraiser as a race.
