The In Flanders Fields Trail sets off at Fenix Ieper on the Leopold III laan and heads into the woods and fields around the town. There are five distances: 8, 14, 23, 32 and 42 kilometres, the last added only at the fifth edition. At least eighty percent of the course is unpaved. The start times run inversely to the length: the 42 and the 32 go at half past nine, the 8 not until half past ten, so that the finishes fall close together. Each distance has its own mass start, and refreshment along the way is set by the distance chosen.
