The Herfstloop Twente sets off from the AC TION athletics track on the Geessinkweg in Enschede and heads into the country around the Rutbeek. The distances are set in English miles: two, five and ten, plus a half marathon and a kids run. The race has existed since 1976 and holds a fixed place in the Twente calendar. The course combines woodland and open landscape; because start and finish are on the track, every distance ends with a closing lap on the cinders.
