De Hel van Harkema is a trail run around the Muntsegroppe near Harkema in Friesland, starting and finishing at Hell's Plaza. The course deliberately avoids asphalt: you run over sand, along forest edges and on paths with real elevation change, and obstacles turn up along the way when you least expect them. The 5 and the 10 kilometres start together and split after about three kilometres; the ten has an aid station halfway. Before that the one-kilometre kids' run sets off, for participants up to and including fourteen. Runners start in corrals by pace, every finisher receives a medal, and in the evening the site turns into a party.
