The Halve van Den Helder explores this maritime town from Willemsoord, starting and finishing at De Kampanje. The event spans two days: Saturday is for walking past art and culture, Sunday for running along the coast and the sea. The half marathon passes the town centre, Huisduinen, the Grafelijkheid dunes, the Donkere Duinen, the Marsdiep and the Den Helder sea dyke, and takes in places normally closed to the public. The 10 kilometres shares the opening kilometres and returns by way of the water tower and the Timor park. There is also a 4 kilometres, a kids' run, a schools race and a company race, run either individually or as a relay of three over the half marathon.
