The GO Triathlon Herkingen is the triathlon of Go Sport Events on Goeree-Overflakkee, with the marina of Herkingen as its centre point. The swim takes place in the harbour on the Grevelingen, the bike course runs through the polders around Battenoord, Nieuwe-Tonge and Herkingen, and the run is an out-and-back along the outer dike. Two distances are on the programme: an eighth triathlon over 500 metres swimming, 20 kilometres cycling and 5 kilometres running, and a quarter over exactly double that. Start, transition zone and finish lie within two hundred metres of each other on the harbour grounds, which makes the day remarkably easy to follow, for participants and spectators alike. The race draws more than three hundred and fifty entrants.
