The GBU Windmolenloop is Loopgroep Urk's familiar, low-key evening race. Since the early 1990s it has kept a simple local rhythm: sign up on site, start at Ons Sporthuis and run an approximately 8.5 km lap around Urk. The course mixes the edge of the Urkerbos, the polder, Westermeerweg, Schapenpad and the dike back to the finish, giving the race plenty of variety without making it complicated. In 2026 the series consists of four Wednesday-evening races, with an overall ranking for runners who complete at least three. Low entry fees and a relaxed atmosphere make it suitable for regulars and first-time participants alike.
