The GBU Windmolenloop is an evening race on Urk, organised by Loopgroep Urk. The race returns several times a year as part of a series of its own, which lets participants track their form across the season on the same course. The entry fee is two euros, keeping the threshold as low as possible. The running happens in the early evening. Urk lies on the IJsselmeer on what was once an island, and that open landscape with wind coming off the water defines the character of the race, as the name already suggests.
