Essen Loopt is a street race starting and finishing at the Oude Pastorij on the Essendonk. The afternoon opens with the para and rehabilitation runs over 300, 600 and 900 metres, free of charge and open to anyone with a physical or intellectual disability; the kids' runs then follow over those same three distances, grouped by school year and likewise free. At half past two the 5 and 10 kilometres set off together over a fully paved loop that the longer distance covers twice. Primary school children who feel up to it may also enter the 5 kilometres. The proceeds go to a local care facility.
