Edegem Loopt is the running day of Atletiek Belgica Edegem Sport in the centre of Edegem. For the occasion the village centre is closed to traffic: shopkeepers come outside with food and drink, associations show what they do and there is a fair, which makes the whole thing feel more like a village celebration with a race inside it than the other way round. Four formats are offered: kids runs, 5 kilometres, 10 kilometres and ten miles. Start and finish are on the Kontichstraat near the Gemeenteplein, with changing rooms and showers at the Den Willecom sports hall. The course is partly unpaved and passes the prettier corners of the municipality. The entry fee stays low, with a discount for those who register early.
