The Droomtijdloop is a half marathon that moves through Delft in the middle of the night from Saturday into Sunday. At 02:00 the field sets off from Sportpark Pauwmolen on the Rijksstraatweg for two laps of the sleeping city centre, along the canals and under the street lamps. The night itself is what makes it unusual: at three o'clock the clock goes back an hour, so the hour between two and three passes twice and the time on the finish clock works out in the runners' favour. That is where the race gets its name. Participants start in four waves based on expected finishing time, through an hourglass start that pulls the field apart quickly. The half marathon is the only distance; AV De Koplopers organises the race.
