The DrechtStadLoop is the road race in the heart of Dordrecht, starting and finishing on the Statenplein. The half marathon is the main event and opens the afternoon: a fast course with long straight stretches across the island of Dordrecht, past the historic centre, the dykes and the edges of the Nieuwe Dordtse Biesbosch and the Wantij. While the half marathon is under way, the shortest events run their lap: a frame runners race and a puppy run over 400 metres and a 1000-metre youth race. Only at the end of the afternoon do the 5 and 10 kilometres set off, both of which can also be run as a company race. The course is largely closed to traffic, which keeps the day urban but easy to follow.
