The DijkenLoop is the running part of the DijkenSport weekend in Beneden-Leeuwen, in the Land van Maas en Waal. Start and finish are at De Wiel on the Wielstraat. There are three distances — 5 kilometres, 10 kilometres and the half marathon — and the half can also be run as a relay, so the distance is shared across a team. Every five kilometres there is a post with water, fruit, sponges and first aid, and timing is done by chip. There is a separate programme for young runners, and schools compete among themselves for the title of most active school. That last part makes the race as much a village affair as a competition.
