The DEM Kermisloop is AV DEM's street race in the centre of Beverwijk, around the Breestraat. The programme is spread across the day: at noon the children up to eleven run their 1250 metres, half an hour later the twelve to fifteen-year-olds their 2500, and only at four in the afternoon does the 7500 metres for everyone from sixteen set off. That long gap is part of the character of the race: it belongs to the Beverwijk funfair rather than being a self-contained hour. The course uses the shopping streets of the centre, where the crowd is already standing on fair day.
