The Bissinghrun starts on the Varsenerdijk near the Voormars in Ommen and offers three distances. The youth race over one mile opens the evening and is open to children from seven to fourteen; the ten miles follows, and ten minutes later the five miles. Both long distances are officially measured, which means the times count towards personal bests. A time limit of two hours applies on the ten miles. Because the starts follow closely on one another and the course runs in and around the centre of Ommen, the race stays compact and draws plenty of spectators along the way. The local athletics club organises it.
