Backyard Ultra Leersum

About the race

The Dutch Backyard Ultra in Leersum follows the classic backyard format: every hour, on the hour, all participants set off on the same 6.706-kilometre loop across the Ginkelduin estate. Get back inside the hour and you wait for the next signal and go again. There is no finish and no predetermined distance; anyone who stops takes a DNF, and there is only one finisher: the last person to complete a lap. Twenty-four laps works out at exactly one hundred miles. The basecamp is an open field where every participant has their own pitch with a tent, close to the start and finish. The route runs largely through nature and has little elevation.
