The 8 van Drachten sets off from the Museumplein in the middle of town and turns on a single main distance: eight kilometres on a fully paved course kept as free of traffic as possible. The afternoon opens at quarter past one with the Frame Running, for athletes using a three-wheeled running frame with chest support and handlebars. At two the KidsRun follows over 1,100 metres for children from four to fifteen, and at three the gun goes for the eight kilometres, open from the age of twelve. There is a business run as well. Entrants are placed in starting pens by the finishing time they enter.
