The 7 van 7huizen is the village race of Zevenhuizen, a village of some three thousand residents in the Westerkwartier region of Groningen. The course consists of two loops of 3.5 kilometres running entirely through the village, with residents cheering from their driveways and at the festival grounds. The main distance of 7 kilometres is open from the age of eleven; alongside it runs an extensive youth programme with races from 300 metres to 1.8 kilometres, including a guppy run for the very youngest. The youth races set off in the early evening and the 7 kilometres later on. With an entry fee of seven euros and a cap of 777 runners, this is very much a village occasion, put on by a small team of volunteers.
