The 20KM Thuin - Charleroi runs from one town to another: starting on the Rue du Pont in Thuin, finishing on the Place Verte in the middle of Charleroi. The course follows the Sambre valley, using broad stretches of the RAVeL, the old railway lines and towpaths now serving as cycle routes. That makes the race flat and rolling — there is little climbing and the surface is wide enough to hold a rhythm, so this is a 20 kilometres on which a time can be run. It is one of the three races of the 20 KM Series; the other two start at Maredsous, one on the road and one as a trail.
