The 11.11.11 run of Vossem is held every year on the eleventh of November, the date the organisation is named after, on the initiative of the local 11.11.11 committee. You can run or walk; the distances go from 5 through 11 to 20 kilometres, with a walk alongside them. The proceeds go to 11.11.11, the umbrella body working against inequality worldwide — but not all of it leaves the country: every year a limited share stays with a locally supported project. That explains the tone of the day better than the programme does: this is a village cause first and a race second.
