The Vondelparkloop is a road race in the heart of Amsterdam, starting and finishing at the open-air theatre in the Vondelpark. The course follows the park's wide asphalt roads in a lap of roughly 3.3 kilometres, run once, twice or three times: that yields distances of 3.5, 6.7 and 10 kilometres. The morning opens with the 1.5-kilometre children's run, after which the shorter distances set off together with the 10 kilometres, and the recreational 10 kilometres follows later. Companies and schools can enter teams, with the first four finishers deciding the team classification. The permit caps the field, which is why the race sells out well before race day every year.
