The Verlaine's Runners Trail sets off from the village hall on the Chemin de la Pyramide in Verlaine-sur-Ourthe, a village belonging to Durbuy. There are three distances, none of them casual: 12.5 kilometres with some 530 metres of climbing, 24 kilometres with around 1050 and 42 kilometres with around 1700. That is serious climbing by Ardennes standards, spread across technical paths and long descents. The organisers put the emphasis on what surrounds it: generous refreshments during and after the race, six showers, prizes for men and women, and aerial footage. After the finish it all rolls on into catering and music in and around the hall.
