The Legends Trail is a non-stop winter ultra of 350 kilometres through the Belgian Ardennes, with roughly 13,500 metres of climbing. Race headquarters is at the College St. Roch in Bernardfagne, where the race starts on Thursday evening; competitors then have some 87 hours, calculated on a minimum average of four kilometres an hour. There are only five checkpoints along the way and runners are entirely self-sufficient in between, while navigation forms a real part of the challenge. The course is drawn afresh every year and in February it is typically covered in snow, ice or deep mud. Since the first edition in 2016 only part of the field has ever reached the finish.
