Triathlon van Balkbrug is the recreational triathlon of the Heuveltjesbosbad, with the swimming pool as its home base and the Reestdal and Heuveltjesbos built straight into the course. The adult events centre on the 1/8 triathlon, individual or relay, with a 500 metre swim, 25 km bike leg and 5 km run. For beginners, young athletes and recreational participants there is the shorter 1/16 triathlon with 250 metres swimming, 12.5 km cycling and 2.5 km running, also with youth and team options. The swim takes place in the deep pool, the bike section goes through the Reestdal and the run laps are largely on forest paths. The event clearly chooses accessibility, limited start places and a sporting Wednesday evening where racing solo and finishing together both fit.
