The Triathlon Looërmark in Bathmen has a format you rarely come across: the swim does not take place in open water but in the De Looërmark swimming pool, where the event also starts and finishes. The quarter triathlon counts forty pool lengths of swimming, forty kilometres of cycling and ten kilometres of running; the eighth distance is exactly half of that. Anyone who would rather not tackle all three disciplines can enter as a trio with a friend, family member or neighbour, and there is a separate format for corporate teams. The bike course is not closed to traffic, so participants must keep at least four metres apart.
