Treechloop Maastricht

About the race

The Treechloop, put on by Atletiek Maastricht, sets off from Watersportclub Treech '42 on the Hoge Kanaaldijk and heads straight for the southern edge of the city. There are two distances, 7.4 and 11.8 kilometres, and the course is roughly half paved and half unpaved. The Sint-Pietersberg and the old ENCI quarry area define it: they bring climbing and changing ground, which makes the race feel more like a cross-country event than a lap of the city. The long route also runs a stretch across the Belgian border. The field stays small, which keeps the atmosphere familiar, but the profile clearly asks more than a flat road race of the same length.
