The Trail du Moulin de Thimougies sets off from the Place de Thimougies, in a district of Tournai, and sticks to a single distance: 17 kilometres with around 250 metres of climbing. That is no Ardennes profile, but no flat polder run either — just enough relief to break your rhythm on a course that otherwise comes down to surface and corners. One distance also means one start, at half past nine in the morning, and one field of a few hundred runners that stays together throughout. Anyone after a trail without choice paralysis and without a mass set-up will find a clear village race here, around the Thimougies mill.
