Trail des Fantômes is one of the best-known trail weekends in the Belgian Ardennes, based in La Roche-en-Ardenne. The programme counts seven races spread over two days. Saturday takes the longest distances: 75 kilometres with around 2,700 metres of climbing and 55 kilometres with 2,100, alongside a 20 and a 10 kilometres. Sunday brings 35 kilometres with 1,400 metres of climbing, 25 kilometres with 1,000 and 15 kilometres with 600. More than ninety-five percent of the courses is off-road: forest paths, single tracks, tree roots, steep slopes, rocks and technical descents. Anyone starting here is deliberately choosing a trail that is demanding rather than fast.
