Les Boucles Ardennaises is a trail classic in La Roche-en-Ardenne, with the sports complex of the Athénée Royal as its practical base and the Ourthe valley as the connecting thread. The programme consists of a 10 km that is also open to walkers, a 21.1 km Semi-Marathon Trail and a 42 km Marathon Trail. The routes combine quiet paved sections with dirt roads, forest paths and narrow passages through the Ardennes terrain; the marathon in particular seeks out the steeper climbs, streams and ridges. Fully marked courses, signallers at crossings, Chronorace timing and reusable cups at the aid stations give the event a polished but distinctly green trail identity.
