Trail La Grimace sets off from the École Sainte-Julie on the Rue Nérette in Marche-en-Famenne and heads into the Famenne-Ardenne. There are three distances: 9 kilometres with 190 metres of climbing, 19 with 380 and 39 with 1000. The longest goes at nine, the two shorter ones an hour later. Every distance has a cut-off, calculated at an average of 6.5 kilometres per hour — generous enough for anyone keeping moving, but too tight to walk the 39 out. Notably, there is free childcare during the event, reserved in advance: that turns a four-hour trail day into something parents can actually do. Refreshments are at the finish and along the way on the longer routes.
