The Strontraceloop sets off at MarinaParks Soal on the Suderseeleane in Workum. At half past one the children run their kilometre and a half; at two the adults go over 7.2 or 15.2 kilometres. The long distance crosses the Workumerwaard and runs over dyke, cycle path and beach; the short one shares the opening stretch and then turns away. The race takes its name from the Workum Strontrace, the sailing race that once carried manure to North Holland — a tradition the event deliberately keeps alive. It is organised by IJsclub & Buitensport Workum.
