Sinterklaasloop - Bolsward

About the race

The Sinterklaasloop in Bolsward falls on the last Monday before Sinterklaas and is run in the dark. At exactly seven in the evening Sinterklaas himself fires the starting shot at Sporthal De Middelzee on De Blink, after which the field covers 7.2 kilometres through and around the town. Some twenty-five traffic marshals keep the route in order along the way, and participants are asked to wear reflective clothing or lights. Timing is electronic and the results appear shortly afterwards. In recent years the start number has doubled as a lottery ticket, which gives the whole thing a village-festival edge. Registration is only possible in advance, not on the evening itself. Lange Afstandlopers Bolsward organises the race.
