The Roetersrun is a 5 kilometre race on the UvA Roeterseiland campus, run each year in spring. Start and finish are to the right of the DEF building on the Roetersstraat; the distance comes together over three laps across and behind the campus. Despite being organised by student athletics club Aquila, the race is explicitly open to everyone, student or not — worth saying, because a campus race easily gives the impression of a closed affair. Afterwards come the medal ceremony and drinks. For anyone in Amsterdam after a short, fast test without logistical fuss, this is a practical choice.
